You can not serve two masters

Luke 16:13 "No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."


When you look at this scripture it looks nice but when you go deeper in understanding it, you will realize the depth of it and it will change your life.

There are many words used by Jesus for 'servant' in His sayings. The Greek word used here is Oy-ket-ace - Strong 3610 which if correctly translated to English means - Domestic.

A domestic is a servant who resides in the house and serves the master of that house. A domestic can not reside in one house and serve the master of another.

If you reside in God's Kingdom you will not be able to serve satan, but if you reside in sin than you can not serve God. If you say we all are sinners, yes - we are not free from sin, therefore even on the Day of Judgment the Lord Jesus will cover us with His cloth of righteousness for us to enter Heaven. But if we know that we are sinning in a particular area and continue to remain in it, we become domestics to the house of sin.

Hate sin and get out of it, do not remain in it, fight it. Be a member of God's Kingdom and serve the Lord make Him your master.


[ Prayer for the Day ]

Dear Father God, I want to serve You and dwell in Your house. You know I am weak and I fall many a times. Strengthen me and help me get out of sin for I hate it and want to overcome it. I want to be an over-comer and receive the promises I have in Christ Jesus. This I ask in His Name. Amen
