Egypt a reed to the house of Israel

Ezekiel 29:6 - And all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am the LORD, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel.

The Hebrew word Mizraim / Mitsraim translated as Egypt means 'the two Matsor' or 'double straits'. The word 'matsors' means defense and 'strait' means passage.

An inhabitant of Egypt means in metaphor a person having two gods or two ways of living. Jesus said I am the only way, but these people have another way also - their way. They want God but also want their worldly selves too.

The Lord said unless we lose our worldly selves, we will not find our real selves. We need to detach from the nature called Adam in us then only will be able to have the nature of Jesus in us. There is no way we can have connection between Adam and Jesus. Jesus is also known as the last [latter end] Adam, symbolizing He was another Adam having nothing to do with the first Adam in nature.

People who think we need to be Christians and live in peace with others in this world. No doubt a Christian is a peace loving entity but he does not make peace with the Devil and the ways of the devil. He is always in a state of war with Satan and the plans of Satan.

Making peace and loving a person is different from making peace with idolatry ways and believes.

In Mumbai my nephew goes to a well known Catholic school and in their school they celebrate all kinds of pageant festivals of the Hindus and other religions. Like me my brother in law does not send his children to school on those days, so the principle who is a priest called him and have him a sound hearing saying things like 'which world do you live in', 'we live in a democratic country', etc..

These Catholic priest and nuns hate believers and do not accept their children into Catholic schools because of their boldness to witness Christ. They would not mind any non-believers or even an atheist but not a Christian believer.

When Jesus used the word Church He meant 'people drawn out'. We cannot be 'people drawn out' if we do all what others do. Love does not mean killing yourself with another dying person; that is called foolishness. Love means giving life to a person dying at whatever cost it may be.

A reed is a grass kind of plant that grows in shallow waters. It is equivalent to weeds on dry land. Weeds are plants which are called nuisance plants which disrupt planned growth like gardens or fields. They just grow anywhere and eat away the good soil and do not allow the good plants to grow. Weeds or reeds symbolize the understanding or knowledge of this world.

Studying science, geography, history, mathematics, medicine, astronomy or doing aerobics etc. is not bad for they are connected to what God has created. But things like psychology, religion, astrology, yoga, homeopathy etc. are manmade understandings which eat away into the Truth.

The Red Sea through which the passing of Israel symbolized water baptism was called the Reed Sea during those times. There were reeds that grew in plenty along the banks of this sea, therefore the Egyptians called it the Reed Sea, it was during the Greek period that the name became Red Sea because of the reddish sand along this sea.

Unless we do not die to these reeds, we will not have a new life in Christ and become true Christians.

The Lord is telling us today those who dwell in Egypt and are like reeds will come to know He is Lord. Like the Lord bought down the gods of Egypt by the plaques in the book of Exodus so also He will bring down the gods of the Egyptians and destroy their reeds.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, You alone are God and there is no God besides You. Lord, forgive us for the times we have put ourselves over You and the things of your Kingdom. Help us to say No to our carnal nature and say Yes to your Kingdom. Help us detach from Adam and be grafted into the Last Adam which is Christ

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[ Reference Scripture ]
1 Corinthians 15:42-45
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

Matthew 16:24-26
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
