Make good work perfect

Hebrew 13:21 - Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Today's message is a very important message especially for the men and women of God who work in the Lord's Vineyard. There are many who are doing good work in the Lord's Kingdom and the Lord is telling them He is not satisfied with their good work.

Our God is a God of perfection. No doubt He is patient and slow to anger but He is a never compromising God. He has His priorities set and He knows their order is the perfect order for He is full of wisdom and all knowing. When we do work for the Lord we find we are not receiving the results to that extent which we should and this is all because our work is not perfect.

In today's message the Lord is pointing to those factors why our work is not perfect.

1) Our work is not according to His Will.
Most fail here because we lack understanding of the Word of God. We go to preach and convert people to Christians. We even do healings and miracles yet there are very high chances that we are still not doing His Will.

2) What we do is not pleasing in His sight.
Let me take this with an example. Let us say we come across a man naked on the street and we out of love give him a shirt and pant to clothe him. This is good, but if that man wraps the shirt around his waist and the pants around his head, the purpose of the clothing is not fully fulfilled. So for us we need to not just give the clothing but also make sure he wears it well.
Most of us do good work but lose on the purpose of the work we do. However great our work may be but if the purpose is not achieved then the work is incomplete. Even if the purpose is half achieved yet the work is incomplete. For God purpose hold more priority than the work or the efforts. Along with purpose, process is also given great importance in the Kingdom of God. Thus good work done in ungodly way is not acceptable to God.

These two points also need to be done through Jesus Christ, keeping Him as the corner stone and should glorify Him and Him alone. Therefore those who work for the Kingdom of God and are visible in the eyes of man run greater difficulty of lifting Jesus Christ above themselves.

Let us just not do good work but let us do work according to the will of God in a way which pleases God and glorifies Jesus Christ.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, we thank and praise You. You are a Living God, Who is ever seeing, nothing is hidden from You. Whatever we do, the purpose and our ways are known to You. We cannot fool You even though we may fool the world. Lord, help us understand your Will through your Spirit and guide us that we know the priority and purpose which pleases You...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Galatians 5:14-26
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Romans 12:2
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Ephesians 4:11-16
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Matthew 7:18-27
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
