I have called you by thy name

Isaiah 43:1 - But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

There must be many people in this world who are not very happy by their name. I use to be one among them, it is only when I understood my name I am proud of it.

Understand this; your name is not just a co-incident, even before you were born the Lord knew you by your name. Even before our mother, father, aunt, uncle, or anybody else thought of our name the Lord had already named us. If our names were not known before, then how could there have been a possibility of them being written in the Book of Life in the start of creation?

The Book of Life has all the names of everyone who was born, is born or will be born and are saved, to receive the Lord's salvation. If we are to believe that we too are included in that list then our names need to be there. If we are not going to be happy with our name then we start thinking that the Lord's hand was not there in naming us.

In my childhood the greatest depression I went through was name calling in school. Even today many mispronounce my name and make it sound odd, especially those from vernacular educational background. In the Bible, all main character's names have meanings, when you understand your name then you will realize how fortunate you are. If you have not found out that your name has a meaning do not be sad, you will one day come to know, be patient.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, I thank You for my name. I thank You for writing my name in the Book of Life. Lord I pray for all your children, who are depressed or displeased by their name, I ask You to help them realize the meaning of their name, and how beautiful it is. I make this prayer in Jesus' Name, Amen.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
