Prepare yourselves for the disasters

Zephaniah 2:3 - Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD'S anger.


We have been given warning about the destruction and disasters that are and will escalate in the near future, at the same time the Lord is also telling us how to be saved from all these.

One may wonder how anyone can be saved from these massive disasters. Let me share in brief one of my testimonies on one disaster which hit Mumbai when Mumbai was flooded on 26th July 2005.

I was given a message by the Lord almost week to 10 day in advance about the 2 floods, one which hit Mumbai and the other which hit the places around. The cause and purpose was also explained to me.

At that time before the floods hit Mumbai I was at a retreat in Goa (this was when I was in the ministry) where we experience the most awesome anointing ever in our lives. Almost any person having any problem who walked in that room that day had a testimony. We saw with our own eyes a child who had water filled head, right before us his head was shrinking and veins started becoming visible. The child's eyes were fully white for his cornea was behind and before us the eye balls were rolling and coming to normal slowly. A person bought on wheels went walking that day. I will never forget the anointing that we experienced that day for there was none standing on their feet in that room. One would be slain in Spirit and the one who helped that person to get up would soon be slain and helped by the person whom he or she had helped. In that small hall there was hardly any place to keep a leg.

On the way back heavy rains followed the train we were in. Somewhere in between the journey due to some technical reason we were delayed. A few stations later the driver started reversing the train back to a station. Most of the journey we were traveling in almost flooded waters but in between the driver did not feel right so reversed the train and we halted at a station which fortunately was at a height. We came to know soon later that the tracks ahead were all washed away and the tracks behind us had boulders from landslides.

We were at the railway station for almost a day and half with little food or water and very unhygienic situation. In the early morning before the break of dawn many sleeping in the boggy heard a voice telling us to getup since the government sent buses for us to take us ahead to Mumbai. None of us saw any person but the voice was loud and clear. We all got up and packing our things stepped out on the platform. After stepping out our boggy people realized we were the only ones standing out while all others were yet asleep. The lights of our boggy went off because of lack of fuel. So we made our minds to go to the bus station and catch a bus. We walked in hip level waters and reaching the station could not get in the first buses but latter we managed to get in comfortably into a bus. After we all reached Mumbai to our own residences we heard the whole of Mumbai was flooded. When we were in the bus and in the modes of transport from the Central bus station to our houses there was hardly any rain, but within an hour the whole of Mumbai was flooded. We learned that the floods were just behind us right from Goa and as we reached our house the whole of Mumbai was flooded. Had we been still in the train (and still safe) we would have not reached our houses at least for 4 to 5days. For the floods took at least 3 days to normalize.

It was latter I realized the flood warning and also realized how an Angel of the Lord woke us in the train and made us to get on to the last bus from that place to reach Mumbai.

The Lord is telling us if we need to be saved from all these calamities it is not sufficient we worship Him or called ourselves by His Name. He is telling us the only way out is to seek righteousness and meekness.

Seeking righteousness means to separate ourselves from that we know as wrong. Many Christians live in grey areas and find it okay because some light is seen there. The Lord is now telling us He is going to be less tolerant and wants us to either dwell in white or in black and His anger will be poured on specially those who live in the grey. He says 'Be holy for I am Holy' and thus we need to separate ourselves from the understanding and traditions of this world. That does not mean we need to hibernate in far off place. We living among the unbelievers need to love them, help them but not corrupt our relationship with God or the Truth in us because of them or things originating from them.

We are also called to pursue meekness (humility). This does mean to do social service or look after the poor. That is good, but that will not save us from these disasters. The word used here means to be poor in spirit. Being meek here means to be of want or thirsty in spirit. Unless we do not keep being always thirsty in spirit for the Lord we will not grow in spiritual relationship with Him and mature into becoming Sons.

So let each one of us prepare ourselves for the storms and other turbulence coming before us by anchoring ourselves unto righteousness and meekness.

Lord, You love your people dearly but You also hate sin and darkness. You are light and want your children to dwell in light. Lord, we pray for your people ourselves including that we receive courage and spiritual boldness to walk in righteousness. Help us circumcise our hearts and help us always know that we need more and more of You and your Kingdom...

23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
