Calling all Levites for harvesting

2 Chronicles 29:34 - But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: wherefore their brethren the Levites did help them, till the work was ended, and until the other priests had sanctified themselves: for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.


The word Levi in Hebrew means 'joined to' when the Lord punished the Egyptians He killed the first born and every family but spared the first born of the Israelite. In lieu of exempting the first born of the Israelites the Lord took the tribe of Levites as His own. They were like a separated lot exempted from many of the Laws given to the people of God (Israel) and given the task of doing the works of the Sanctuary.

We who believe in Jesus and are baptized in Jesus and the Holy Spirit are like the Levites. When man sinned man evoked the anger of God and thus Jesus dying on the cross became a peace sacrifice and saved us, being saved we like the Levites are taken apart to do the works of the Sanctuary.

In the start when the harvest was small only those selected to lead did the work of evangelizing the Word of God. Today when the harvest has increased multifold even the Levites are called in to do the work of evangelizing (the Sanctuary is the people of God came as one body in Christ).

How do we become the Levites?

Jesus called us brothers and sisters and by doing so joined us unto His family. Thus by joining us we become the Levites. Therefore any and everyone who considers oneself as brother or sister of Jesus Christ, has the duty to evangelize God's Word.

Do not think, you donating or giving attendances at congregations are done with your work as Christian. Today, no one can deny that the harvest is great, so it is automatically the duty of all Christians to evangelize. Start in your neighborhood among friends and then reach out to others elsewhere.

Lord Jesus, You being God came as man and by your sacrifice saved us from death. You called us brothers and sisters and made us a member of your family. Along with the authority we received from You, we also received the duty, the responsibility to bring your lost sheep back unto You. Lord, some of us are faint in heart, encourage us and strengthen us that we may stand and take responsibility of our relationship in You...

Numbers 1:47-50
47 But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.
48 For the LORD had spoken unto Moses, saying,
49 Only thou shalt not number the tribe of Levi, neither take the sum of them among the children of Israel:
50 But thou shalt appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of testimony, and over all the vessels thereof, and over all things that belong to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all the vessels thereof; and they shall minister unto it, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle.

Mathew 12:48-50
48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others. (All rights are with God)
