Let your light shine before men

Matthew 5:16,17 - Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

There is some thing I always say; you can not dwell near a man or woman of God and not be affected (I used the word affected and not changed).

Jesus Christ is called the light of the world; He is not described as a sun but compared to a lamp. A lamp is personal and it gives light to the user and those around the user.

As a baby, when Jesus taken to the temple (Luke 2:25-35); a man of God named Simeon described Jesus very beautifully - as a light which will expose the hearts of many, show the path to those who are lost but seek Him, and be a reason for the fall and rising of many. Similarly if Christ is in us, people around us can not continue living in darkness. They will either change for good or fall for bad.

There are many non-believers with whom I interact in my business, daily life. I normally do not preach to them unless I am lead by the Lord. There were times when I did not understand why I was sharing with some people even though I knew they were very hard hearted persons. After a period of time I came to know of great disasters which were in their family lives or which came later.

We need to be a light which shows the path, which is good and exposes the bad. A light does not drag a person to his or her destination but is used to help reach the destination. To use or not to use is up to the user. If the path has holes and the light exposes it; after that if the person continues to walks and falls into them, does not do so out of ignorance.

Let us be the light that shows the truth and encourages others to come to the truth, but not forcing or dragging anyone to the truth.

[ Prayer Starter ]

Lord Jesus, your Spirit of Truth is the light which dwells in me and exposes all that is good and bad. Help me shine this light unto all around me that they too may come to the knowledge of the truth and be encouraged to come to the truth. I intercede that they do not harden their hearts and be destroyed. This I ask in your mighty Name, Amen.

Luke 2:25-35
25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,
28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,
29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:
30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
31 Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;
32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.
33 And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.
34 And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;
35 (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

Psalms 119:105
105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
