Are you ready to get married in Heaven

Isaiah 62:5 - For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.

In the Old Testament times and even during in the New Testament in a solemn marriage the commitment to get marriage (engagement) was the important legal understanding. Any person breaking it was considered as good as divorce. Therefore Joseph had to think many times if he had to say no to marry Mary when he came to know that she was already with a child. It was only the declaration of the Angel that encouraged him to go ahead with his marriage to Mary.

Couples were considered married only when they came to know each other (had physical relation). After the birth of Jesus, Joseph did have children with Mary and this is given in the Bible. They together had at least two daughters and four sons.

The purpose God brought a husband and wife together in marriage was to bring forth a family. He blessed man and women and instructed them to multiply. This instruction was latter solemnized in the institution of marriage. If a couple come together in marriage and do not have children out of the relation, they were considered cursed.

When I got married I followed the worldly advice to come to know your wife (mentally) and enjoy the relationship for a few years (I was told four years ideally) before having children. And after four years we tried hard and could not conceive even after taking medical help. It was only after I was born again and received Christ and the breaking of the curse, my wife conceived with a godly child after six years of marriage.

Over the years as the Lord enlightened me did I realize what a fool I was following worldly advices.

Our marriage to the Lord Jesus Christ although is explained as the coming of a bridegroom and His virgin bride, yet should not be conceived as in human marriage because spirit does not have gender. The purpose of marriage is what the importance of this relation is and that is the forming of a family.

The Lord wants to multiply souls with the coming of us unto a bond with Him. So let us like a virgin keep our spirits holy unto the Lord Jesus Christ our bridegroom.
