Poisonous stew that is causing abortions in the Church

2 Kings 4:38-41
38 And Elisha came again to Gilgal: and there was a dearth in the land; and the sons of the prophets were sitting before him: and he said unto his servant, Set on the great pot, and seethe pottage for the sons of the prophets.
39 And one went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine, and gathered thereof wild gourds his lap full, and came and shred them into the pot of pottage: for they knew them not.
40 So they poured out for the men to eat. And it came to pass, as they were eating of the pottage, that they cried out, and said, O thou man of God, there is death in the pot. And they could not eat thereof.
41 But he said, Then bring meal. And he cast it into the pot; and he said, Pour out for the people, that they may eat. And there was no harm in the pot.

In today's message we read about how there is a famine in the land and during this time in the school where the children of the Men of God went Elisha landed. Elisha told the people there to prepare food for the students. So these people went and picked up wild gourds which were poisonous and started preparing a pottage.

As they were eating they started feeling the symptoms of the poisonous stew and realized. They shouted that there was death in the pot. Elisha immediately asked for some flour to be bought and put it in the pottage then he asked them to eat it and they found it was edible.

Wild gourds also called colocynths is a plant that has great survival properties thus was found even though there was a famine. It has fleshy long root, has small yellow flowers and small round green fruits of which seeds are edible and used to make oil. This plant's some parts are edible but since the drought was very harsh only the vines were surviving.

In ancient days this plant was also used for medical purposes and one of them was to terminate early pregnancy. So we see this plant had strong consequences on the stomach of the children when they ate of it. Elisha by adding flour to the pottage reduced the strong effects of the plant and made it edible. So there was no miracle here but just sensibility.

Today's message is very important to the Church. The Church is also facing a drought. You may say brother there are great things happening in the Church. Yes the Church is doing a lot of activities but see the fruits that the Church is bearing. We hardly see great mighty Men and Women of God being produced out of the Church. It is not that there are not anointed people in the Church, but these are like children, spiritually not matured. The problem is that these people are spiritual fed wild gourds in the Church and this causes their passion for God to be terminated at early stages, very few come to a stage of teens. Then they too do not last for all are made to pursue being a Pastor and not the calling which the Lord has for them in their life.

Preachers in Church are giving Manna to the congregation. God gave us Manna (Word of God) but did not tell us to eat as it is. Man was to ground it, nit it, bake it and then eat it. Jesus did not say He came to give us Manna but said He came to give us Living Bread. In the Gospels Jesus showed how the Manna was processed and made into bread that gave life. All the teaching of Jesus written the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke are from the Old Testament, but very rarely people realize this. Even when Jesus said I give you a new commandment the word He used was 'kainos' which also means made fresh.

It is time we use our senses and add some Living Word in the Church so that we stop the terminations of Men and Women of God at an early stage.

Just day before yesterday I was speaking to a senior Pastor and told him it is time we do not have the breaking of the Word in Church if people do not have a Living Word from God, a revelation from Him. It is better the congregation cries and weeps before the Lord then to feed the congregation things that sound good but harden them spiritually (wild gourds).

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, the Church lacks life for they are consuming Manna and not Living bread. Lord we pray the preachers and shepherds spend time with You and process the Manna into Living bread to feed the congregation. Lord we pray a stop to the abortions and early deaths that are happening in the Church...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Exodus 16:14-21,31
14 And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground.
15 And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.
16 This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number of your persons; take ye every man for them which are in his tents.
17 And the children of Israel did so, and gathered, some more, some less.
18 And when they did mete it with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating.
19 And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning.
20 Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them.
21 And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted.
31 And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna: and it was like coriander seed, white; and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.

Numbers 11:7-9
7 And the manna was as coriander seed, and the colour thereof as the colour of bdellium.
8 And the people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in a mortar, and baked it in pans, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil.
9 And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
