Be contented

Sirach 29:23 [APC – Apocrypha] - Be it little or much, hold thee contented, that thou hear not the reproach of thy house.

Have you gone on a long trip and found that you having been carrying many things which you have hardly and use of and they have been just weight, causing inconvenience. But when you left for the trip you thought 'what if I need it?'

We always want more because either we can not control our fleshly desires or we have no knowledge of what is ahead.

In the first case our fleshy (carnal nature) will lead us to further sin and ultimate destruction. Even in the second case it is bad, because carrying more only slows us down in our spiritual walk. The solution to this is to be in good communication with the Holy Spirit and to have faith in Him for our needs. But because this is not the case with everyone, the safest bet is that we should be contented with what we have. That may cause inconvenience to our flesh but will at least no destroy our spirit life.

Father God, my flesh desires many things. Help me by showing to me what is required and good for me and help me overcome the urge for the rest. I ask this in Jesus' Name, Amen.
