Guard your senses

Ezekiel 40:28,29 - And he brought me to the inner court by the south gate: and he measured the south gate according to these measures; And the little chambers thereof, and the posts thereof, and the arches thereof, according to these measures: and there were windows in it and in the arches thereof round about: it was fifty cubits long, and five and twenty cubits broad.

In the Bible Peter asked Jesus how many times are we expected to forgive a person and Jesus told him seventy times seven. Most people understand this as an infinite number (since they consider 7 as a cardinal number) and therefore conclude that we should always forgive people. But that is not the right understanding.

There are times in the Bible the Apostles and even Jesus gave up on people and we see all cases they do so up on to a common reason. Jesus never said all sins will be forgiven and all will be saved.

We as Christians are not called to be perpetual punching bags but are called to be cushions of love. We are told to what extend we should go and at what stage we should put our foot down and let God deal with people.

It is by the study of Bible Numerics we get the right understanding of what Jesus said. The number 7 is the number which symbolizes the Holy Spirit, Who is with us. Through His instruction Jesus told us we should forgive people not by our strength but by the power of the Holy Spirit, but in the same instruction He also told us when we should stop forgiving people and should step back and let God deal with people. We should remember we really are not the people who do the forgiving but as representatives of God we can be in the way or be the way for people to receive forgiveness.

Jesus tell us we should forgive people for all the things they do against us or even what they do against God but when they sin or blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, it is time we stop forgiving and step back. We should forgive 70 times 7 (power of the Holy Spirit) but when the cross 7 (Holy Spirit) we should let God deal with them.

In today's message too we see a blend of Bible Numerics and Bible Image Study.

The temple written in Ezekiel 40, 41 and 42 talk of the inner-man (soul). The design and measurements given give great detailed instructions of how we should live our lives and how we can overcome and be like Jesus.

Today's message instructs about being alert at all times. We are spirit being living in this natural world and our spirit is connected to this world through our inner-man and our inner man connects to this world through our 5 senses. What we see, hear, feel, smell and taste is what gets into us from this world. In the Bible God tells us not to be like pigs which consume everything that even from far looks edible. The Bible tells us to discern ever thing that enters us through our senses.
Regarding things of this world which do not build us spiritually we may look but we should not see, we may hear but should not listen, we may touch but should not feel, we may smell but should not let the scent set in us and we may taste but should not let the flavour drive us. We are spirit being driven by our spirit not by our senses. We may live in this world but should not let the world live in us. We become righteousness when we master the art of controlling our senses and discerning all that enters us according to the Word of God by the help of the Holy Spirit (Spirit of Truth).

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, You made us in your image but sin corrupted us. Lord by your sacrifice forgive us of our sins but the world does not leave us and tries to corrupt us again. You gave us your Spirit so that with the help of the Holy Spirit we will discern all things that enters us through our senses and defiles us. Help us Lord to control our senses and while living in this world let us not let the world live in us...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.
