Roll it out; we have a destination to reach

Psalms 37:5 - Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

The Hebrew word translated as 'commit' comes from the word 'roll'.

The act of rolling means to set forth in action. Rolling is not a short process which involves in the start but a long continuous process wherein one needs to keep the act on till the destination is reached. During this process we can not stop the efforts unless an external force takes over.

For example if we are rolling a ball; if we give the first initial push and stop the ball will roll to a distance and then stop. To keep the ball rolling we need to keep going behind it and keep adding force as and when it tends to slow down. There is also the possibility if the ground is sloping in our direction then the inclination takes over and the ball continues rolling by itself. The same is the case if a strong wind is to your advantage, it will help rolling the ball.

Initially we may need to put great efforts to correct our ways unto the ways of the Lord but doing that and stopping will require again great efforts to start the process all over again. But if once started we keep continuously making the small corrections we will find things much easier.

Then there are times when the grace of God takes over and acts like the slope or the Spirit of the Lord like the wind making things very easy; in fact accelerating our walk in the Lord. The world may hinder our way by acting like stones in our path, but we should not halt or give up but keep our journey in the Lord, we have a destination to reach - Heaven.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord God, it was an impossible task for man to walk in your ways and be Holy. Then You came as man and showed us the way it should be done by the help of your Spirit. You gave us your Spirit and also made things easier for us by adding abundant grace. Lord, help us to realize by our own efforts we will not be able to reach far but by your Spirit and grace we will surely reach our destination - You...

We make this prayer in Jesus' Name, Amen.
