He works in natural and unnatural ways

Mark 14: 50, 51, 52 - And they all forsook him, and fled. And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him: And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.

In today's scripture we read a very odd event that happens to Jesus at Gethsemane. After all desert Him, including His own disciples, there comes a young man wearing only a linen garment on him. Theologians believe this young man to be Mark (John) since no other witness from Jesus' disciples were there to share this event, and it is recorded only here in the records of Mark.

This young man may be Mark or someone else. But what we read is he does something crazy; he follows the soldiers taking Jesus. He then takes hold of Jesus and leaving his linen cloth behind he flees away naked.

We know nothing in the Bible is just written for the sake of writing. When the Lord was teaching me of the books of Moses and how they were all about Jesus Christ, then I asked the Lord of this scripture I was surprised to see the importance of this incident in fulfilment of the sacrifices which Jesus performed for our salvation.

In today's message the Lord is telling us He was in total control of all things even during the suffering of His Son Jesus. When things were not made available in normal ways God make sure they were made available in ways that were not natural.

We may look at natural ways to fulfil our requirements but the Lord is telling us not to worry if He has promised and given His Word He will surely fulfil them even if He needs to resort to unnatural ways.

Just a day before it was in the news in Russia that some unknown person was going around leaving a box full of cash randomly at people's doorstep. Now who in the world would expect something like this to happen?

If we are in the Lord we will surely see things like this or even crazier happen to us if we have a need and do not see it getting fulfilled naturally.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, You are our provider and all things come from You alone. When You made this world You said all things are good. It is man's eating of the tree of doubt that caused man to sin and make bad all that is good. Lord, help us trust in You as our provider. You always prefer doing things the natural way and if not available You do not hesitate to do it the unnatural way. During the drought You did not drop bread and meat for Elisha from the sky but made ravens to bring it to him. Lord we know our needs will be fulfilled because your Word says You will provide and we thank You for the natural and the unnatural means of provision...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

1 Kings 17:1-6
1 And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
2 And the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
3 Get you hence, and turn you eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
4 And it shall be, that you shall drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.
5 So he went and did according to the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelled by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
