The Throne of Grace

Hebrew 4:16 - Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Before we get to into the message for the day let us understand the difference between mercy and grace.

There is actually no difference between mercy and grace except for quantity. Grace means the required quantity of mercy to get the job done. Mercy can be obtained by pleading, penance, suffering, praying etc. it is not easy and there is no guaranty of receiving it when one does the above methods. To give mercy or not is up to the Lord.

If mercy is so difficult then what will happen if we have to get grace that would have been impossible?

God made grace possible and available to us through Jesus Christ who is referred as The Throne of Grace.

How does that happen?

One can say grace is the Siamese twin of faith, so if we need to get the impossible 'grace' we can get it via faith. Therefore faith in Jesus Christ - the Word lets us tap into grace which heals us and makes us whole.

In the Old Testament there is no scripture of any person being healed by faith, they were all healed by mercy. They cried, prayed, suffered etc. and were healed. It is only in the New Testament that we read faith heals. It is actually still mercy (grace) that heals but tapped via faith.

There is still a step further than just faith, which is when faith is complete or full in that person. This happens when the person comes to the next stage of faith which is being in authority. A person of authority like a son will never think twice for he knows. Authority is when our faith is rock solid.

Jesus came not only to give us grace but to give complete grace - authority. This will happen only when we know who Jesus Christ is and who we are in Him. This can happen only via the Word and Spirit of God.

So we who have received the Spirit of God and who stand in the Word of God approach The Throne of Grace in our times of need.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord Jesus, we thank You for making the abundant grace possible unto us. We believe in You and by our faith in You we tap in the grace available to us. Lord Jesus, by your Spirit help us to know You better and to know who we are in You, that we may receive and exercise the authority You have given us...

We make this prayer in your mighty Name, Amen.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
