Do not envy the grass

Psalm 37:1,2 - Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.


The faiths of most Christians are shaken when they look at the non-believers who do not know God and are far away from His ways, when they are seen to be prospering and doing well in life even though their hearts and their ways are evil.

The difference between a believer, redeemed child of God and a person far from God, is that one know where he or she came from and going to, and the other does not.

Jesus calls them the children of Satan. They maybe not doing evil towards any other human being but it is only because they live in lies and Satan is called the father of lies. The Lord refers to them as the grass of the fields because the live in their flesh. When the grass has lived its due they are cut and thrown in the fire.

Even if we are not abundantly blessed in materialistic things, God assures us that we will be fed and have peace where we dwell. The peace may not be worldly peace but if our hearts are in Heaven, we will surely have Heavenly peace or the peace of God in us.

The preacher at the Sunday service nicely put it; the people who treasure things of this world move away from their treasure and people who treasure things of the Heavens move towards their treasure.

Father God, out of your profound wisdom You created this world and wrote the history of this world. You know man and the heart of man, and are aware of our every thought and deed. Lord, by your Spirit and grace help us, not to be short sighted and loose eternity...

John 8:42-44
42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Isaiah 40:6-7
6 The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
