Do good to them that hate you

Matthew 5:44 - But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Being good to those who are good to you is very easy, but being good to a person who does not share the same feelings for you is very difficult. For us to face this challenge requires us to have a real understanding of love and a change in our direction of focus.

Our first love over all things in life must be God. When we have God as the center point of our love then loving man becomes easy, even in the worst situation. Although the person may be having an opposite agenda against us but we will find it easy to continue doing good towards him / her if we keep our hearts and eyes focused onto God.

It was this reason which gave Jesus the strength to say 'Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do'.

[ Prayer Starter ]

Father God, You are full of love and we know love when we see your love for us. When we were still in sin rejecting You and your light; You still sacrificed your greatest to bring light back into our lives. There are people around me who You love too, but they are currently in the dark. Show Jesus to them through me and bring them into your light. I ask this in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[ Reference Scriptures ]

Luke 23:33-37
33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.
36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,
37 And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
