The Lord will take His vengeance

Zephaniah 1:7 - Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord GOD: for the day of the LORD is at hand: for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests.

Does our God take revenge?

YES that too in the worst manner one can not imagine. The Lord says in the scriptures 'vengeance is Mine' and the 'loves to oppress'.

It is only because He is a merciful God that He is slow to anger and give sufficient time to people to change and turn back. The word 'Jealous' which the Lord uses to call Himself as a Jealous God, Jealous is His Name. The word does not mean envy as we assume but it is a term described in Hebrew as 'possessiveness of a parent to its child'.

Our God is very possessive of His children and if someone hurts them He is not going to forget it. He will give time for that person to repent, lots of time. But one day He will exercise His anger in full. I can give you many life examples but let me give you one from the Bible.

Take the case of the Midianites who obstructed the journey of the Israelites when they had just come out of Egypt and were not organized as an army. They again were the cause of the death of thousands of Israelites because they seduced them to worship their gods and a caused a plague from the Lord fall upon the Israelites (very symbolic to what the fallen angels did to man).

The Lord had told Moses not to spare the men, women and even the children of the Midinates and this after giving them years to repent and change, but the time only hardened them further to do worst.

Our God has been patience and tolerant since ages, but He has not forgotten any of the atrocities done to His people. He is soon going to revenge it with His fury.

Also take the case of the revenge which was taken on the Jews for killing Jesus. After 70 years millions of Jews were crucified by the Romans, so much so that there was not wood left to make crosses. But the Christians among them fled to the mountains because they adjured to the warnings in the Gospels.

God's people will be safe even through these disasters if they adjure to the Word, but those responsible for the atrocities against His people will be utterly destroyed.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord God, You are a Father of love, but You also get very angry when your children are hurt. Lord, your people have been crying through ages for revenge. They have been persecuted from the start and still are. Lord as promised in your Word let your anger fall, but let none of your own be hurt. Let the world know that they can no longer ignore You. You are Almighty and Just God...

We make this prayer in Jesus' Name, Amen.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
