There is Power 'IN' the Name of JESUS

Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, "We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches."
Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, "Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?” Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. This became known both to all Jews and Greeks dwelling in Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified. - Acts 19:13-17

If you reflect on the scripture you will understand that it was not the first time that these Jews were trying exorcism in the Name of Jesus. They did not know Jesus personally but they knew Paul and saw that Paul could manifest the power by the Name of Jesus. They may have been successful before, but that one day it was not their day. Although they spoke the Name of Jesus the evil spirit questioned their authority.

There is lots of power in the Name of Jesus so much so that every being (excluding God) in Heavens, on the Earth, under the Earth (graves) and in the Sea (hell) bow in the Name of Jesus. The Name of Jesus is lifted above all names (excluding God's). We can tap in this power only if we know Jesus. The authority is given to those who are of Him. For example if a person comes to you to extort money in the name of a very big gangster you may be scared of the gangster and pay up. But if that person does not look like a gang member or someone who would remotely know him, you will question that person. Similarly we can take the authority in the Name of Jesus only if have His character. To tap into the power of the Name of Jesus, first be like Him or else one day it might not be your day.

Lord Jesus, You have given me authority over the enemy and over all things that could go against me. This authority I can evoke in your Name. Lord Jesus, help me to be like You so that I can exercise this authority. Let your Name be magnified in me. I ask this in your precious Name. Amen
