The Comforter

John 15:26 - But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, (even) the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

When Jesus said baptize the people in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit it was not because their order is in that fashion. The Father and Holy Spirit were there even before the Father declared the Son. That does not mean the Son came latter.

The Son was there from the beginning and was part of the Father, before He was declared. It is also because of this that the Son is identical to the Father, yet the Father is God even unto Him.

Now another matter that people are confused about is the Spirit of God. All know that we received the Holy Spirit because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Does that mean the Holy Spirit was not there among man before that? If the Spirit of God was not among man then who was authorizing the Bible by man and who was working through the men of God?

We get the answer to this in the book of Joel

Joel 2:23
23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

Removing the words which are not a part of the script but have been added for readability (Italics words in KJV) we get as follow.

Joel 2:23
23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first.

The Former Rain which is the Holy Spirit Who came among man before Jesus Christ, came moderately. The Spirit of God before Jesus was mission specific. He came on only those who had a mission to do (like in the case of the Patriarchs) or on a person only during the time of mission (like in the case of King Saul). The Spirit of God did not stay among man for long.

After the Blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ we received the Holy Spirit via Jesus Christ (Who is referred as the First) and is now the Holy Spirit is referred to as the Latter Rain. The Latter Rain is not moderated as the Former Rain. We receive just a token of the Spirit of God when we believe and are baptized in Jesus Christ. The Spirit of Truth is a part of the Seven Spirits of the Holy Spirit, of Whom we receive just a token. It is only when we grow in Spirit; the Spirit grows in us, both in capacity and variety.

It is the Spirit of Truth Who gives us the ability to understand the Word of God and bring the Truth (the whole Bible from the start to the end is completely to do with Christ) unto us. Only when the Truth is in us we are able to hold the Testimony of Jesus Christ. That does not mean we now have the full Truth in us.

It was only in Jesus Christ the Holy Spirit was whole. From the time of Jesus, man has been growing in the Spirit of God (although for a period of time anointed men were hidden away from the world) until the Truth gets revealed in full in man and the Testimony is completely in us.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord God, You are the Spirit of God and You are Almighty. We thank You for both the Former Rain and specially for the Latter Rain. Let the Latter Rain fill up in us that we may walk in power and your glory fill the earth. Help us to grow in You and thus hold the complete testimony of Jesus Christ in us...

We make this prayer in Jesus' Name, Amen.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
