Lament and mourn and weep!

James 4:9 - Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.

People mainly get attracted to Christianity since it is the only religion which assures eternal life and an entry to Heaven. Christianity also offers great blessing both spiritually as well as physically. It is only among Christians we find people being confident of healings and deliverance.

But there are some aspects of Christianity which people prefer to keep away or ignore and is our message of the day.

As James tells us, we need to be lamenting and mourning and weeping, not people of laughter but of gloom! Paul in his letter also speaks of being sober in life.

We as Christians need to remember we are not of this world, even though we live here our eternal home is in Heaven with our Heavenly Father. Our home and God is Spirit and our desires are mainly spiritual, in this physical world we basically look at our needs to be fulfilled and we being an instrument to bless others. We live in this world but waiting to escape from it. And during the period of waiting we are to help the others who are also part of our family through this journey.

The Bible tells us the joy we hold is that we are on the right path and will soon reach our destination because we see light through the Truth, but the sorrow we hold at the same time is seeing suffering of our fellow family members who are struggling to overcome.

The Lord is telling us how can we be people partying when we are in a transit camp with thousands of medical casualties around us?

In the Old Testament Ecclesiastes 7:3 tells us it is better to have a mourning heart for it strengthens the spirit. When we are sober our discernment is better and our spiritual communication with the Lord is better.

Proverbs tell us even in laughter may be sorrow and in joy grief in the same way even in grief there can be joy and the end of every sorrow is laughter for after night comes morning. Jesus put it as a woman in labor who goes through pain for the joy that awaits her.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, help to realize the Truth of who we are and the purpose You created us in this world. You made us of earth and have asked us to reject it and to live in spirit. Lord, by your Spirit renew us and keep us sober with a morning heart for your burden is upon us and we need a strong spirit to carry it...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.
