Silver and Gold Vessels of the house of God

Ezra 8:30 - So took the priests and the Levites the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem unto the house of our God.

In the tabernacle there were vessels made of silver as well as of gold, they were both precious to the Lord and both were called holy vessels. But when we look at the thing in Heaven there is no trace of silver, there is only gold.

Is God man to have desires like man? Does God prefer natural gold more than silver?

We desire gold not only because it is good looking and suited to make ornaments but also because it is a rare metal. If gold was as freely available as iron than I doubt man would have that much liking for gold. Also we need to remember God created the silver and the gold, He could have created more gold if He wanted but He did not.

Everything God created He did with great wisdom and said all is good. Good so as for man to understand the things which are hidden from man that is why in Genesis it is written God created all things according to their kind or His kind. That is why even though God said some things were unclean yet after the Holy Spirit was given unto the Church, man is allowed to eat even those things which said to be unclean, not that they became clean or things changed. What changed is our understanding of things. Since the Spirit of Truth is given to man, man now can understand the real unclean thing which man should not consume which is not the animal but the image of which it was made. For example a pig may be eaten but the nature of a pig is not acceptable in man.

Gold and silver also like everything in this world has symbolic understanding. Gold symbolizes spiritual richness and silver worldly richness. Man is expected to have both knowledge and understanding of this world and also of the Kingdom of God. When Jesus preached He taught them through stories which had historical as well as spiritual dimensions to it. It is only when one has the understanding of both the dimensions then only can one have the full understanding of the teaching.

God is telling us even though the worldly knowledge is short term and will not be of value for us in Heaven, yet God requires us to have knowledge and understanding of this world. Also we should remember its purpose which is our walk through this temporary life and we should not hold on to it as if we are here forever, then we will lose the gold trying to give more value to the silver. Let our gold be gold and our silver be silver.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, since your people do not have understanding and lack knowledge they suffer. They at time go to the extreme and therefore fall. They lack discernment for they are spiritually blind. We pray Lord the sight of your people be healed, that they may see and discern and grow in You...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Exodus 31:2-5
2 See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah:
3 And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,
4 To devise cunning works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,
5 And in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship.

2 Chronicles 1:11-12
11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

Proverbs 2:1-11
1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

Proverbs 9:10 - The fear of the LORD the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy understanding.

Ecclesiastes 2:21-24
21 For there is a man whose labour is in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that hath not laboured therein shall he leave it for his portion. This also is vanity and a great evil.
22 For what hath man of all his labour, and of the vexation of his heart, wherein he hath laboured under the sun?
23 For all his days are sorrows, and his travail grief; yea, his heart taketh not rest in the night. This is also vanity.
24 There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
