Can you marvel God?

Luke 7:9 - When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled [admired] at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

The faith of the centurion may have got Jesus to marvel him.

Some may wonder why I used the word 'may have' when the translation says that Jesus did 'marvel' at the faith of the centurion.

The word 'thaumazo' used in Greek has been translated in the Bible at places as marvel 29 times, wonder 14 times, have in admiration 1 time, admire 1 time and wonder 1 time (also 1 time with another verb).

We need to understand the word marvel does not means just being impressed it also includes an element of surprise. God being God cannot be surprised, He is all knowing. So we can impress God but not get Him marvel.

In today's message we have a very beautiful message if we get into the dept of its understanding; it gives us a clue of how to impress God.

What the centurion did was he broke the faith level of all those around him, he set new level. He simply did not go along with what people thought but to what his heart said to him. He did not think according to the world but simply followed what his heart said; his heart said for God is almighty and (according to him) Jesus was a representative of God thus had authority.

We too, to impress God need to just know Who He is and do not need to be great Bible experts, just follow according to our hearts.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord God, You are almighty God. You created all things and even time is a factor created by You. Like all things time too is under your authority. By faith we tap into your Power and all things are possible for us. Lord, help us to always remember Who You are and who we are in You...

We make this prayer in Jesus' Name, Amen.
