He does not delight in horses and legs of man

Psalms 147:10,11 - He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man. The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.

When one reads this scripture and questions it, one may find it funny. God created horses and made them strong and fast to travel and God created man with legs yet it says God does not delight in strength of horses or the legs of man. The scripture does not imply to the object but to what they symbolize.

In Revelations we read of horses of different colour, there are no horses of different colours nor are there spiritual animals in Heaven, nor do Angels travel on horses. The scripture state so that we understand spiritual things by their symbolization.

When Adam gave names to the animals he did so by noticing their nature. The Hebrew word translated as horse means swift. Horses in Bible symbolize progress from one stage to another stage. Legs on the other hand symbolize life. When God told people to wash their hands and feet before coming before Him or else they would die, He did not really mean physically death nor physical washing although He commanded them to do so as a statute but He desired them to understand the truth over the years. Washing of feet means forgiveness of sins which one commits in their walk of life (which they are not aware of). The Lord gave them the Sacrifice of Guilt for this, which is what the Bread (Body of Christ) which we break at services does to us. That is why Jesus washed the feet of His disciples at the last supper, it was a sign that He forgave them their sins and commanded they forgive the sins of each other (wash each other's feet).

To wash our feet we need to first wash our hands, that means get forgiveness for the sins we have committed by our works, sins we are aware of. Without wash hands, washing our feet is like making a mockery of the Sacrifice of Guilt and thus Paul says for this many die.

In today's message the Lord is telling us He neither takes pleasure in the progress/prosperity of man nor in the life of man. He only takes pleasure in them that fear Him and those who hope in His mercy.

Although God created all humankind yet Bible says most humans are like grass set to be consumed by cattle but His people are like medical plants for the healing of mankind.

We need to understand like poverty is a curse that destroys man so also worldly prosperity is harmful to man for it destroys the spirit of man and does not allow him to enter Heaven. God promises to provide us our needs. The desires of our heart Bible specifies are more for spiritual things. Bible tells us to be overcomers, overcome what? Overcome the worldly desires of our hearts which lead to sin. Like the Bible says wealth is not evil but the desire of wealth is the root of all evil.

People think the scripture 2 Corinthians 8:9 talks of Jesus lived a life of a poor person. Firstly Jesus was not born in a stable but outside an inn while they were waiting for a room which were full because it was the Feast of Tents / Feast of the Tabernacle which comes in September. Secondly the wise men had bought very precious gifts to give the parents of Jesus these were very expensive. There were not 3 wise men but many wise men representing many kingdoms but all of them bought 3 gifts for they were special given not to kings but only to Emperors (king of kings). Imagine each bringing a portion of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, think how much of gold, how much of frankincense and myrrh would there have been. Surely there was sufficient to last their life time. Notice Jesus did not wear rags He wore decently good clothes (white linen robes with blue hem as traditional Jewish dress), that's why the soldiers did not tear His clothes but cast lots for it.

The Scriptures says Jesus rich before He became poor for our sake. Did He have money and worldly treasure before He came as man? It talks of Him spiritually humbling Himself and becoming man so that He can spiritually lift us and make us Sons of God again.

Paul tells us to live a sober life; neither a life of poverty (for God is our provider) nor a life of riches (such that wealth becomes a god for us and we forget God or put Him secondary), not a life of full desires not knowing the Will of God.

Also notice in today's message those who fear God and those who hope in Him are listed as two different categories. Fear God does not really mean fear but means to have knowledge of who He is. Those who hope in God really do not know God as to who He is. Those who know God as to who He is do not have hope but have assurance in Him. So God says in today's message He delights not only in the spiritually mature who know Him, but also in those who are spiritually little and have come to Him with hope.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, You alone are God and You are Spirit. You made man a spirit being lower than the Angels for he was put in a body of flesh but the flesh became his prison when he sinned. Lord, You desired man to overcome this prison and once again become Sons of God. Lord, we pray we be focused on our mission and realize our true life has yet not started but will when we enter Heaven to dwell with You forever. We pray we do not live to enjoy this worldly life and loose our eternal life...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.
