Nothing be lost

John 6: 12 - When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

In today's message we read after Jesus had performed the great miracle of feeding five thousand men (not counting the women and children) with just 5 loaves and 2 fishes. He did not do the miracle Himself but involved the people in performing the miracle in a chain reaction. He thanked God and broke a loaf and gave this broken loaves to His disciples and they became whole and when the disciples to thanked God broke the loaves and gave a part to the persons sitting next to them, the loaf they had became whole and the person sitting next to them also received a whole loaf. The people too performed the miracle in the same way and at the end all received a full loaf.

We read after all ate Jesus asked His disciples to not let the fragments of leftovers be wasted but to collect them in baskets. Was Jesus trying to teach them not to waste food? NO.

Lord had a very specific reason to do this exercise since it was only after they collected all the fragments did they realize that they had filled 12 baskets.

Long back, a Priest was teaching on this miracle and as his church tries to deny that miracles do happen he tried to explain this miracle saying that the five loaves were very big and therefore everyone ate a small piece and were yet satisfied. The miracle according to him was people being satisfied with crumbs. It would have being interesting to hear from him how after sharing this five loaves between more than five thousand people, did manage to fill twelve baskets of fragments. Even without eating I would like him to fill twelve baskets with fragments of five loaves.

God knew of these smart-alecks and therefore had got the fragments gathered to glorify His Name.

Yesterday we received a message of the Lord's hidden treasure and in the evening at my session God revealed some awesome things which brought new light to the whole Bible. The topic was about why God created man; man who was made a little lower than the Angels and made in the weak flesh yet was loved so much and chosen to be lifted up and even glorified in the Lord. What actually means to be baptized and why it is also called being born again.

What we learned from all this was nothing was done without purpose and understanding.

Although all people are not God's people yet God created them for purpose and reason, and that is to lift His Name high.

Today the Lord is telling each one of us who think, 'why we went through a life which we did and why all those terrible things happened unto us'. God is telling us all these had a purpose and role to build us and use us for His glorious Name. We should not thank Him for those situations or fragments but thank Him that even through them He is using us and has found us worthy to be part of His glorious plan.

[ Prayer Starter ]
Lord, You are God and your wisdom is beyond boundaries or measures. Man cannot imagine or even dream of the plans You have for him. Lord, we thank You for finding us, lesser than worms worthy to be your sons. We thank You for your love and boundless grace...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.

John 6:5-13
5 When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?
6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.
7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.
8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,
9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

Psalms 8:3-9
3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
9 O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

The Word of God was given free to us, therefore we should also share it freely with others.
